Softball Game Preview: Jordan Beetdiggers vs. Cottonwood Colts

Jordan hasn't had much luck against Cottonwood recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Beetdiggers will look to defend their home field against the Colts at 3:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Jordan is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Park City.

Jordan got a massive performance out of Kate Judd, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Olivia Judd, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Cottonwood was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They came up short against Tooele, falling 16-1. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Buffaloes recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Samantha Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season.

Jordan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Cottonwood, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jordan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Cottonwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Jordan suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Cottonwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Beetdiggers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
