Soccer Game Preview: MAST Academy vs. Sports Leadership & Management

The MAST Academy Makos will face off against Sports Leadership & Management at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as MAST Academy comes in on 11 and Sports Leadership & Management on three.

MAST Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past JC Bermudez Doral 2-1. Given the Makos' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Thunder are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franco Civetta and Santiago Casserly scored both of MAST Academy's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, while the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Sports Leadership & Management who was credited with the victory on Monday. Sports Leadership & Management got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Downtown Doral's three. Sports Leadership & Management found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: three Sports Leadership & Management players were handed yellow cards.

MAST Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-1-2. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5-3.

MAST Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Sports Leadership & Management in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 4-2. Will MAST Academy repeat their success, or does Sports Leadership & Management have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
