Basketball Recap: San Simon Piles Up the Points Against San Miguel

San Simon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 46-4 win over the San Miguel Vipers. With the Longhorns ahead 33-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.

San Simon was led to victory by Hollie Keil and Bryleigh Sloan. Keil posted ten points and seven steals, while Sloan went 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points and three steals. Keil is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Yulissa Romo, who put up four points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.

San Simon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

San Simon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.4 points per game. As for San Miguel, they dropped their record down to 0-22 with the loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.

San Simon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-16 victory against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind on the 5th. San Miguel has also already played their next contest, a 70-10 defeat against Bisbee on the 3rd.
