Baseball Recap: Wharton Wildcats vs. Freedom Patriots
Wharton proved they can win big last Monday (they won by ten) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Freedom Patriots 5-3. The win was familiar territory for Wharton who now have three in a row.
Chase Andress looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Danny Munoz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Turer, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
On Freedom's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paul Rodriguez, who went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a double.
Wharton's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Freedom, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wharton will take on Middleton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middleton's hitters has struggled lately (they haven't scored a run in seven consecutive games), something the team is no doubt ready to change. As for Freedom, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Chamberlain at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
