Baseball Game Preview: Owensboro Red Devils vs. Central Hardin Bruins

The Owensboro Red Devils will head out to challenge the Central Hardin Bruins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Owensboro's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Central Hardin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Owensboro fell victim to Meade County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Green Waves by a score of 2-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Red Devils were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Central Hardin had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Eagles 13-7.

Chase Price made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Price was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Central Hardin's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin Hubbard, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Central Hardin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Ethan Lewis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Owensboro's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Central Hardin, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
