Recap: Ilwaco Fishermen vs. Willapa Valley Vikings
The Ilwaco Fishermen won the last time they faced the Willapa Valley Vikings, and things went their way on Friday too. Ilwaco came out on top against Willapa Valley by a score of 53-42.
Willapa Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rilyn Channell, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Channell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Addison Merkel, who scored ten points.
Ilwaco's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Willapa Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ilwaco will take on North Beach at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Willapa Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mossyrock at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Mossyrock's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
