Volleyball Recap: Brooke Wilhelm and Madelyn Dierckman Secure Win for Batesville

Batesville had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Rushville Lions with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Batesville took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-9, 25-13.

Leading Batesville to victory were Madelyn Dierckman and Brooke Wilhelm. Dierckman had five digs and three aces, while Wilhelm hit 62.5% for five kills and 21 assists and six digs. What's more, Dierckman posted two assists, the most she's had over her last six matches.

They weren't the only good server: Batesville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in three consecutive contests.

Batesville's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Rushville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Batesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Jennings County on the 11th. As for Rushville, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Waldron on the 15th.
