Baseball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Wins Going Away Against Gaston Day

Hickory Grove Christian got themselves on the board against Gaston Day on Tuesday, but Gaston Day never followed suit. They blew past the Gaston Day Spartans 12-0. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won nine in a row.

Gavin Pelow was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Green, who scored two runs.

Hickory Grove Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Gaston Day, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Lions coming up. Covenant Day's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Hickory Grove Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gaston Day, they will venture away from home to take on Burlington Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
