Jacob Taylor commands the offense for a Berries win

Recap: Logansport Berries vs. Marquette Catholic Blazers

The Logansport Berries had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Marquette Catholic 69-54 on Wednesday.

Logansport's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Taylor led the charge by scoring 18 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Isaac Russell, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Marquette Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nate Bakota, who scored nine points. Bakota continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Colson Dobre was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.

Logansport's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Marquette Catholic, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Logansport will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against La Porte at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. La Porte is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.8 points per game. Marquette Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lowell at 5:00 p.m. on December 27, 2023. Hopefully Lowell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Wednesday.
