Basketball Recap: Futures Picks Up 13th Straight Win at Home

Futures won the last time they faced Western Sierra Collegiate Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Futures Knights put the hurt on the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves with a sharp 77-57 win. The Knights pushed the score to 63-40 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolves cut but never quite recovered from.

Futures got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Kozlov out in front who went 10 of 25 on his way to 26 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Kozlov's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthoni Moore, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 22 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Futures smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matchups.

Futures pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

The future could be bright for both Futures and Western Sierra Collegiate Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Futures will try to hand Forest Lake Christian their eighth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Western Sierra Collegiate Academy will try to hand Faith Christian their ninth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
