Baseball Recap: Cory-Rawson Takes a Loss

Cory-Rawson had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it ten. They came up short against the Ridgemont Golden Gophers, falling 20-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Hornets of the 18-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Mason Hall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

As for Ridgemont, their record now sits at 6-10. Considering they have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Ridgemont's side, the team relied heavily on Maverick Dawson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Dawson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Woodruff, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cory-Rawson will challenge McComb at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridgemont, they will venture away from home to square off against Waynesfield-Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
