Baseball Recap: Foothill Takes Down Bishop Union in a Playoff Battle

Foothill had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bishop Union Broncos on Friday, sneaking past 5-3. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won four games in a row.

Ramon Diaz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Diaz was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Foothill let Carlos Ruano and Marcos Carbajal run wild. Ruano went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Carbajal went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Foothill pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Bishop Union, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.

Coming up, Foothill is taking a road trip to face off against Lemoore at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Bishop Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
