Basketball Recap: Newport Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Newport Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Thoroughbreds came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 41st in Kentucky, while the Bulldogs are ranked 312th in Ohio).

Newport Central Catholic now has a losing record at 3-4. As for St. Ursula Academy, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newport Central Catholic will head out to square off against Roger Bacon at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Ursula Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Holy Cross at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
