Baseball Recap: 22 Straight Home Wins for Calallen

Calallen put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Gregory-Portland by a score of 6-1. For Calallen, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win Gregory-Portland walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2021.

Cody Andrade looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Reese Rusher was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Lynch, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Calallen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gregory-Portland only posted a batting average of .267.

Calallen's victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Gregory-Portland, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Calallen will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on United at 2:00 p.m. on March 12th. As for Gregory-Portland, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-1 victory against Corpus Christi Moody on the 3rd.
