Basketball Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness Villains vs. West Forsyth Titans

The Bishop McGuinness Villains will head out to challenge the West Forsyth Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop McGuinness is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.

Bishop McGuinness is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Winston Salem Christian National, who was ranked first at the time (Bishop McGuinness was ranked 18th). Bishop McGuinness had to suffer through a 71-38 loss at the hands of Winston Salem Christian National. The Villains haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Bishop McGuinness got top-tier performance from Adelaide Jernigan, who posted 22 points and eight rebounds. The match was Jernigan's 19th in a row with at least 17 points. Laney Heafner was another key player, putting up five points.

Even though they lost, Bishop McGuinness smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, West Forsyth hadn't done well against R.J. Reynolds recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Forsyth blew past R.J. Reynolds 62-29.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bishop McGuinness fell to 18-1. As for West Forsyth, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Bishop McGuinness didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against West Forsyth when the teams last played back in February of 2020, but they still walked away with a 39-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop McGuinness since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
