Football Game Preview: Conotton Valley Rockets vs. Bishop Rosecrans Bishops

The Conotton Valley Rockets will challenge the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 965 yards in their previous games.

Conotton Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Mathews 66-35 on Friday. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Conotton Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaden Leggett, who threw for 503 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 75.8% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Leggett's passing game has become a key predictor of the Rockets' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Gavin Haney was Leggett's top target, picking up 195 receiving yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 58 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, Bishop Rosecrans hadn't done well against Berne Union recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bishops strolled past the Rockets with points to spare, taking the game 42-28. The victory was familiar territory for the Bishops, who have now won three contests in a row.

Conotton Valley better keep an eye on Hayden Perdue. He was instrumental in Bishop Rosecrans' win, throwing for 392 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. What's more, Perdue racked up 127.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August.

Conotton Valley's record now sits at 7-3. As for Bishop Rosecrans, their record is now 6-4.

Conotton Valley was taken down by Bishop Rosecrans 70-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2016. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rockets were down 56-6.
