De Soto had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered an 8-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

De Soto pushed their record up to 11-16 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
