Basketball Recap: Lynchburg-Clay Falls Despite Big Games from Allie Waits and Madison Mcmullen

Lynchburg-Clay was the 49-44 winner over Williamsburg when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs came up short against the Williamsburg Wildcats on Monday, falling 54-29. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Wildcats are ranked 215th).

Despite the defeat, Lynchburg-Clay had strong showings from Madison Mcmullen, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 13 points and four steals, and Allie Waits, who posted nine points and six boards. That's the most points Mcmullen has posted since back in January of 2024.

Lynchburg-Clay's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Williamsburg, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Lynchburg-Clay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 38-27 defeat against Whiteoak on the 23rd. Williamsburg has also already played their next game (against Blanchester), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
