Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Monroe Jets vs. Arcanum Trojans

Franklin Monroe hasn't had much luck against Arcanum recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jets will head out to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Franklin Monroe took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Tri-Village. The victory was some much needed relief for the Jets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chase Stebbins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Franklin Monroe is undefeated when Stebbins posts three or more hits, but 5-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ty Riffle was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Rohan Flory also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Franklin Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Arcanum came out on top against Twin Valley South on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Trojans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Franklin Monroe's record is now 8-9. As for Arcanum, their record now sits at 9-3.

Franklin Monroe might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Arcanum in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
