Softball Game Preview: Massabesic Mustangs vs. Kennebunk Rams

The Massabesic Mustangs will head out to square off against the Kennebunk Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Massabesic beat Biddeford 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Kennebunk posted their closest win since May 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Bonny Eagle 4-2. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Juliann Pike was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Kennebunk's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Massabesic, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Massabesic came out on top in a nail-biter against Kennebunk in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
