Basketball Recap: Ryker Kerekes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverton over Murray

After a string of three wins, Riverton's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Murray Spartans by a score of 77-74. The Silverwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Several Silverwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryker Kerekes, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Berrett, who made all 5 shots he took to post 14 points.

Murray got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Davies out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Davies a new career-high. Kaiden Nelson was another key player, going 8 of 11 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Murray, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.

Riverton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-57 victory against Fremont on the 7th. As for Murray, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-64 win against Stansbury on the 7th.
