Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends First Baptist Academy's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact First Baptist Academy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Tampa Prep Terrapins by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their 23-game winning streak.

First Baptist Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Tampa Prep work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 30-32, 19-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Peyton Garrick and Laila Stewart certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Garrick had 22 digs and two aces, while Stewart had 17 digs and five aces. Garrick has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Tampa Prep was led to victory by Sophia Merenda and Mila Zujovic. Merenda had 20 digs and eight assists, while Zujovic hit 71.4% for five kills and nine digs and two aces. What's more, Zujovic racked up 62 assists, the most she's had since back in October.

First Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 31-2. As for Tampa Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.

As of now, neither First Baptist Academy nor Tampa Prep have any future games scheduled.
