Basketball Recap: Garinger Comes Up Short

Garinger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were dealt an 86-58 defeat at the hands of the Rocky River Ravens. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 96-62 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Garinger lost, don't look at Aaron Lawler. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 13 on his way to 32 points along with five assists and three steals. Lawler's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameer Nealy, who posted eight points.

Jayden Ross continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rocky River, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Ross a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Walton, who went 5 for 9 en route to 15 points and four steals.

Garinger's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Rocky River, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garinger will host Butler at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Terrance Badio and Lawler. As for Rocky River, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Rocky River Ravens take on the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
