Basketball Game Preview: Lugoff-Elgin Demons vs. Blythewood Bengals

Lugoff-Elgin hasn't had much luck against Blythewood recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lugoff-Elgin Demons will host the Blythewood Bengals at 7:30 p.m. Lugoff-Elgin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.

Last Monday, Lugoff-Elgin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-49 to Sumter.

Despite the defeat, Lugoff-Elgin had strong showings from Kaleb Long, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 14 points, and Jernigan Williams, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Montrell McLeod, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Blythewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Spring Valley 72-40 on Monday. The Bengals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season.

Lugoff-Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Blythewood, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

Lugoff-Elgin and Blythewood were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2020, but Lugoff-Elgin came up empty-handed after a 50-49 defeat.
