Football Game Preview: Poultney vs. Oxbow

Oxbow have been homebodies their last two matches, but they are heading out on Saturday. Poultney and Oxbow go head to head at 1:00 PM in their first playoff game of the year. Both teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Saturday, Poultney put the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season. They put the hurt on Springfield with a sharp 33-0 victory. Poultney were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

Meanwhile, after a disappointing zero points in their last contest, Oxbow made sure to put some points up on the board against Missisquoi Valley. Everything came up roses for Oxbow against Missisquoi Valley as the team secured a 55-0 win. That looming 55-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Oxbow yet.

Their wins bumped Oxbow to 2-6 and Poultney to 6-2. With both Oxbow and Poultney swaggering in after impressive performances, it will be interesting to see which team steps up to teach the other some humility.
