Recap: Van Horn Eagles vs. Rankin Red Devils
The third road contest was the charm for the Van Horn Eagles, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 35-24 win over Rankin on Tuesday. For Van Horn, this counts as revenge for the 80-37 defeat Rankin walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Van Horn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gio Corralez led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 4 steals. Corralez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Joey Anchondo was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Van Horn is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Rankin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Horn will take on Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Rankin, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Coahoma at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th.
