Softball Recap: Calvin Cougars vs. Georgetown Bulldogs
Calvin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Georgetown Bulldogs. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 9-2.

Haley Martin was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Kyleigh Blundell was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Kylianne Barnes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Calvin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Georgetown, they pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvin will face off against Harrisonburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Georgetown, they will take on Weston at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
