Baseball Recap: String Theory Has No Trouble Against Prep Charter

String Theory had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Prep Charter on Wednesday. String Theory blew past Prep Charter 12-4. String Theory hasn't had any issues with Prep Charter recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jayden Masci and Anthony Putnick made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Masci pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Putnick struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Masci has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Masci scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Putnick scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mark Pietrafesa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Long, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

String Theory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

String Theory pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Prep Charter, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, String Theory will welcome South Philadelphia at 2:45 p.m. on the 24th. As for Prep Charter, they will venture away from home to square off against Science Leadership Academy at Beeber at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
