Basketball Recap: Daniel Guerrero Key Part of a Team Effort in Vikings Win

Valley lost to Brush back in January of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Valley Vikings snuck past the Brush Beetdiggers with a 62-57 victory. The Vikings didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Guerrero led the charge by going 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Woolverton, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Brush's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thatcher Queen, who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Konrad Castrup, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points along with five boards and three blocks.

Valley's record now sits at 2-6. As for Brush, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley will venture away from home to square off against The Pinnacle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brush, they will head out to challenge Frontier Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brush is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season.
