Basketball Game Preview: Olympus Titans vs. Brighton Bengals

Two dominant forwards in Joss Baker and Sophie Nielsen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Olympus Titans will welcome the Brighton Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Olympus is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Highland: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Olympus blew Highland out of the water with a 53-17 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-10.

Baker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Olympus' points. Another player making a difference was Madi Shimoda, who posted eight points.

Olympus was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted two assists.

Meanwhile, Brighton really took it to Highland for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-24 victory. The Bengals pushed the score to 48-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams had little chance of recovering from.

Brighton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Olympus, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Olympus took a serious blow against Brighton when the teams last played back in January, falling 66-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nielsen, who went 5 for 11 en route to 19 points and eight boards. Now that Olympus knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
