Denver South barely beat Thomas Jefferson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ravens put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 9-3 victory on Saturday. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Johnny Komarowsky made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Andon Forster was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cody Welch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
The win was the third in a row for Denver South, bringing their record up to 10-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Thomas Jefferson, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
