Softball Recap: Six Straight Road Wins for Orange Beach

With a playoff win on the line, Orange Beach rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ashford Yellowjackets a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Makos, who have now won 31 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaitlynn Robertson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last two matchups. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, MK McMullan looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Orange Beach let Jayde Palmer and Teagan Revette run wild. Palmer went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Revette went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Palmer has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Katie King, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Orange Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive games.

Orange Beach pushed their record up to 40-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ashford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Orange Beach nor Ashford have any future games scheduled.
