Griffith hadn't done well against Highland recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Trojans a 1-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Griffith saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brylie Bridges, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Griffith's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Griffith will head out to face off against Hammond Central at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Highland, they will venture away from home to take on Boone Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
