Softball Game Preview: Stafford Indians vs. Mountain View Wildcats

Stafford hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Indians will welcome the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Mountain View took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Stafford, who comes in off a win.

Stafford lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Massaponax, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Indians were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Panthers on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Tru Shealy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Stone, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Mountain View might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was North Stafford who claimed the real prize. The Wildcats fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 5-3.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Stafford, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
