Recap: Lexington Minutemen vs. Tipton Cardinals
The Lexington Minutemen waltzed into their contest Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They skirted past Tipton 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Tipton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Bailey, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Bailey's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Schlotzhauer, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Lexington's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Tipton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lexington will take on Holden at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holden has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Tipton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Vienna at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Vienna's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
