Recap: Gig Harbor Tides vs. Yelm Tornados
It was a good run, but the Gig Harbor Tides unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Yelm on the road and fell 57-7. Gig Harbor has not had much luck with Yelm recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Brayden Platt had a dynamite game for Yelm, rushing for 192 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Anthony Kiamco and his 100 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Yelm's victory.
Another reason for the win was Yelm's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Gig Harbor's QB won't forget Landen Barger anytime soon given Barger sacked him twice.
Gig Harbor's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Yelm, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gig Harbor will take on Marysville-Pilchuck at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Yelm, they have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Kent-Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Kent-Meridian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
