Baseball Recap: Atherton Victorious

While Atherton put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Waggener. The Ravens walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Jude Fulks made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Atherton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Howell, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Atherton is undefeated when Howell posts two or more runs, but 0-6-1 otherwise.

Atherton now has a winning record of 7-6-1. As for Waggener, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

The future could be bright for both Atherton and Waggener: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Ravens will look to extend South Oldham's four-game losing streak when they meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Waggener will try to hand Seneca their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
