Recap: Bladensburg Mustangs vs. Parkdale Panthers

The Bladensburg Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 58-15 loss at the hands of Parkdale. While losing is never fun, Bladensburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Parkdale is ranked 119th).

Leading Parkdale to victory were Hannah Youn and Ashai Sesay. Youn dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Sesay scored 17 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Youn is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nalani Miller, who scored 11 points along with seven steals.

Bladensburg's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.6 points per game. As for Parkdale, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Bladensburg will head out on the road to face off against Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bladensburg comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Parkdale, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Bowie at 7:15 p.m. Parkdale is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
