Softball Game Preview: T.R. Miller Tigers vs. Jay Royals

The T.R. Miller Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Jay Royals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. T.R. Miller is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

T.R. Miller took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Monroe County as T.R. Miller made off with a 17-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what T.R. Miller needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Kylie Walton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meg Fountain, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Kate Rambach was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBI, and one run.

T.R. Miller always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .958. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Jay put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over South Walton.

T.R. Miller's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Jay, their record now sits at 4-0.

Everything went T.R. Miller's way against Jay in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as T.R. Miller made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for T.R. Miller since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
