Softball Recap: Justice Wolves vs. Mount Vernon Majors
Justice extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Mount Vernon Majors, falling 24-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Majors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-9 back in March.
As for Mount Vernon, the victory got them back to even at 5-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Mount Vernon's part, Aarti Nachnani made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Nachnani was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Alannah Martinez was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Frannie Miller, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Justice is set to square off against their familiar foe Edison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mount Vernon will take on rival Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
