Two dominant backs in Calvin Lacewell Jr and Jaden Lewis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lakewood Leopards are taking a road trip to take on the East Bladen Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
On Friday, Lakewood made easy work of Union and carried off a 40-14 victory. The Leopards haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Lakewood found their leader in sophomore Reed Ammons, who rushed for 129 yards and two TDs on only nine carries.
Lakewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 340 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union only rushed for 184.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led East Bladen over East Columbus in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Eagles blew the Gators out of the water with a 44-6 final score. That looming 44-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.
Lakewood better keep an eye on Dashon Campbell. He was instrumental in East Bladen's win, rushing for 42 yards and a pair of scores. Campbell also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making four total tackles.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to East Bladen's defense and their six sacks. In that department, Julius Battle was the leader with three.
Lakewood's record now sits at 5-2. As for East Bladen, their record is now 5-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Lakewood has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 231.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Bladen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 284.2 rushing yards.
