Softball Recap: Atlanta Sets Scoring Season-High Against Paris

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atlanta). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Paris Wildcats a 19-0 shutout on Friday. The Rabbits have beaten the Wildcats the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.

Lakeyn Wooten was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, Anna Davis was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 13 contests. Another player making a difference was Gabby Petrofsky, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Atlanta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paris only managed one hit.

Atlanta's win bumped their record up to 9-3-1. As for Paris, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Atlanta will face off against McLeod at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Paris, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
