The Wakefield Wolverines are taking a road trip to face off against the D.H. Conley Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wakefield comes in on nine and D.H. Conley on 14.
If Wakefield beats D.H. Conley with 15 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Knightdale on Thursday. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.
Aniela Piscorik and Kensley Harrison were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Piscorik pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Harrison pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Piscorik went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Harrison earned one RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Piscorik has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Brianna Riehle was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Maddy Lampman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wakefield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Knightdale struck out six times.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but D.H. Conley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against New Bern, sneaking past 3-2.
Kendall Howard made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 21 over nine innings pitched. Howard was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Gaddis, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
D.H. Conley's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wakefield, their record now sits at 18-2.
Wakefield was able to grind out a solid victory over D.H. Conley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
