Football Recap: Wilson Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Farmville Central + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilson Prep). They strolled past the Farmville Central Jaguars with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 38-21. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 28-14 victory the Jaguars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

It was another big night for Travon Usher, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 90 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Tyquan Whitaker, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wilson Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Wilson Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ethan Nelson and Whitaker. Nelson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Farmville Central still got an impressive performance from BJ Gardner, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 115 yards and one TD. Gardner's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 109 rushing yards.

Wilson Prep's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Farmville Central, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Wilson Prep will look to defend their home field on Friday against SouthWest Edgecombe at 7:00 p.m. The Cougars' defense has only allowed 5.5 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Farmville Central, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Beddingfield at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
