Softball Recap: Meyersdale Starts off Right with Win over Northern Bedford County

Meyersdale took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They never let the Northern Bedford County Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Meyersdale let Karleigh Beal and Amber Long run wild. Beal went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Long went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those two hits gave Beal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Hainsworth, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Meyersdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Bedford County only posted a batting average of .118.

Northern Bedford County's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Meyersdale didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-1 defeat against Claysburg-Kimmel on the 1st. As for Northern Bedford County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-10 draw against Fannett Metal on the 28th.
