Basketball Recap: John Yowell Academy Falls to Winston Salem Christian Silver in First Game of Season

John Yowell Academy kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 75-11 loss at the hands of the Winston Salem Christian Silver Lions.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winston Salem Christian Silver to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrija Ivanovic, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points along with eight boards and three steals. Ainas Saltis was another key player, going 6-for-9 to rack up 13 points and seven rebounds.

The victory got Winston Salem Christian Silver back to even at 1-1.

John Yowell Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Triad Math and Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on the 18th. As for Winston Salem Christian Silver, they and Victory Christian Center will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
