Softball Recap: Knightstown Gets the Win

Knightstown won the last time they faced Winchester Community and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Golden Falcons 6-5.

Mae Hersberger made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Dylan Fausnaugh and Lyla Trigg did most of the damage at the plate: Fausnaugh went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Trigg went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Knightstown now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Winchester Community, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-6 record.

Knightstown has already played their next contest, a 14-0 loss against Centerville on the 15th. As for Winchester Community, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 victory against Daleville on the 14th.
