Baseball Recap: Lincoln-Way West Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Lincoln-Way West's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Marist RedHawks a 9-0 shutout. Fans of the Warriors have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Conor Essenburg and Lucas Acevedo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Essenburg struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Acevedo pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Essenburg has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Essenburg fired off two home runs and six RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Acevedo scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those six RBI gave Essenburg a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jackson Mansker was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carson Paulas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Lincoln-Way West lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marist didn't launched any home runs.

Lincoln-Way West's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.the team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team won's by an average of 9.4 runs thus far As for Marist, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln-Way West will head out to challenge Thornton Fractional South at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marist, they will venture away from home to square off against Richards at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
