Baseball Recap: Highlands Latin Highlanders vs. East Jessamine Jaguars

Highlands Latin lost a close one when they played on Friday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They lost 11-1 to the East Jessamine Jaguars. Highlands Latin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Highlands Latin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Sweeney, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

On East Jessamine's side, Landon Frazier tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

On the hitting side, East Jessamine got a massive performance out of Caleb Cadle, who went 2-for-2 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Layne Carroll, who went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Highlands Latin's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for East Jessamine, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season.

Highlands Latin will look to defend their home field on Monday against Whitefield Academy at 5:00 p.m. Whitefield Academy is coming into the match with five straight wins on the road, so Highlands Latin will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for East Jessamine, they will play host again on Saturday to welcome North Bullitt, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:15 p.m.
