Baseball Recap: Hilton Head Island's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Hilton Head Island had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Lancaster Bruins on Tuesday.

Phoenix Shapiro looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Hilton Head Island let Grady Cherrington-Dunton and Slater Alsobrook run wild. Cherrington-Dunton went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Alsobrook went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Hilton Head Island is 2-1 when Cherrington-Dunton posts one or more home runs, but 7-18 otherwise. Kyle Larson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hilton Head Island's victory bumped their record up to 9-19. As for Lancaster, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Hilton Head Island has already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Greer on the 8th. Lancaster does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
